About the Young Adult Group

Being Catholic in the Bay Area can be both a joy and a struggle. A joy because it connects us to something far greater than ourselves and provides us with much needed meaning, guidance, and strength in our daily lives. A struggle because at times we can be misunderstood by our friends and colleagues, told we are "politically incorrect," or question our own commitment to our faith and its teachings. Our young adults group was formed to enhance the joys and ease the struggles.

Since 1991, St. Vincent de Paul's Young Adults Group (YAG) has been providing social, spiritual, and community service opportunities for young adult Catholics. San Francisco Magazine has dubbed us the "Best Place to Meet If You're Looking For...A Savior" (check it out...bottom of their 'Best Places to Meet' list). We've also been featured a number of times on the Busted Halo podcasts series in the 'Church search' section. And many have found us in the book Relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area. In October 2007, Mike Hayes (author of the book Googling God) stopped by for a visit, and wrote about us in his book tour blog.

Yes, it is true that young adults choose to stay or move to the neighborhood to be closer to St. Vincent's. The group is primarily made up of single, professional Catholics in their twenties and thirties, but all are welcome, including young married couples (which we have many). Our members cover the spectrum in how they define and practice their faith. Whether you heard about us through word of mouth, a publication of some sort, or at Mass on Sunday, you'll find newcomers as well as active members welcoming you to our community St. Vincent de Paul.

Joining our Community

All are welcome and we encourage our young adults of St. Vincent de Paul to become a registered member of the Parish. Click for our online parish registration form. **Even if you are not interested in becoming a Parishoner, we strongly encourage everyone to subscribe to our email newsleter in the upper right of home page!

The Benefits:

People become part of St. Vincent's young adult community for various reasons. Some come for the social aspects and to meet others with similar backgrounds. Others have questions about their faith that they explore through our Monday night events. Some want to become more active in community service activities. Still others feel that in order to grow and be strong in their faith, they need to surround themselves and be active in a community of other Catholics like themselves. Whatever your reason, to invite you to join us at our next event.
