"A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he who finds one finds a treasure. A faithful friend is beyond a price, no sum can balance his worth."
- Sirach 6:14-16

There is much good work to be done. We encourage all of you to get involved in what interests you. Please let us know where you can contribute your leadership and talents, so we can continue to strengthen our community of faith, service, and friendship.

Our Steering Committee members are listed below:

Paul Boyer joins Cassie Kim as the second Ohioan (and Miami University alum!) on the Steering Committee. Paul moved to San Francisco in June 2008 and found St. Vincent de Paul Parish and the Young Adult Group soon after. Paul has a passion for making people feel welcomed and involved in our faith community and is working to grow the active membership base of the group. Paul thanks his parents for their strong faith and support and credits their example for his desire to be an active member of his parish. Paul works for Genentech in South San Francisco and enjoys being outdoors, skiing, and volunteering in his free time.

John Brust became a parishoner at St. Vincent de Paul shortly after moving to San Francisco in the fall of 2001. Now, he helps lead events and represents the young adult community on the parish council. John credits his parents and grandparents for instilling the importance of family and a strong faith community - both which he has been blessed to find at St. Vincent de Paul. After living in Vail for a number of years, John has a passion for the outdoors, which he keeps alive through running, cycling, and skiing. He works in the software industry as a director of product marketing and can be heard rooting for the Fighting Irish during college football season.

Cathy Carrig has been a member of St. Vincent's young adults since 2003. She's enjoyed being part of the hospitality committee for the and is so happy to have formed many great new friendships. She is thankful to her parents and grandma for their extraordinary examples of strong faith and she appreciates the opportunities the young adult group provides to deepen her own faith. Cathy is a native of San Francisco and loves rooting for the Cal Bears, skiing, volleyball, and traveling (especially to visit her niece and nephews who live in Milwaukee). While she lives in Alameda she has found her home away from home at St. Vincent de Paul. Cathy works in the planning department at Alcan Packaging.

Rob Crea became a parishioner at St Vincent de Paul in 2007 after moving to San Francisco from Atlanta. He is thankful for having met a group of young adults committed to growing in their faith and serving their community. As a fairly new Catholic, he particularly enjoys exploring the faith with other newcomers. Rob works as a law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He enjoys hiking, running and cheering on Notre Dame.

Jay Daftary become a parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul in July 2006 and has been a devoted member of the young adult group since he moved to the city. Jay's enthusiasm for the young adult group can be seen by his heartfelt work on the hospitality committee and on the retreat planning committee. Jay currently works as a casualty underwriter for the American International Group in San Francisco and is a native of Stockton, California. When he is not working, Jay enjoys spending time with friends, travelling, foreign films, spectator sports, wine tasting, and is an active member of the Santa Clara University alumni chapter in San Francisco.

Cassie Kim, our native Ohioan, has been part of St. Vincent de Paul Parish (after her parents encouraged her to participate in the RCIA program) since April 2000 and an active participant in the young adult group since October 2001. Cassie's involvement in the our Church community has touched us all in some way - leading social and charity events, creating and chairing the hospitality committee, and introducing so many of us to the young adult group. In her free time, Cassie is President of the Northern CA Miami University Alumni Chapter and works as the Sales Manager for Old Republic Title Company in San Francisco.

Ann Lovi became a parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul in 2007 after moving to San Francisco from the East Bay. Ann enjoys the philanthropic activities available at SVDP through the Young Adults Group including volunteering at the Heritage House and has led the Operation Easter Bunny basket drive for the Tenderloin Children’s Center, the Thanksgiving Turkey food delivery event as well as co-facilitated our 2008 annual retreat. A Bay Area native and graduate of Santa Clara University, Ann works in the commercial real estate industry as a sales and leasing agent for Colliers International.

Jonas Malalang became a parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul in late 2008 after moving from the East Bay. He is blessed to find a community of like minded young adults that interested in growing their faith. Raised in Alaska, Jonas enjoys the outdoors and takes full advantage of San Francisco and surrounding areas by running, skiing, and cycling. Jonas works for a construction management company as an assistant project manager and is an alumnus of Oregon State University.

John Tullis joined St Vincent de Paul Parish in 2006 after moving to San Francisco from Washington, D.C. John enjoys the fellowship, fun, and stimulating discourse facilitated by the Young Adult Group, and looks forward to planning future activities as part of the steering committee. John works as strategy consultant at Visa, and he spends his time outside of work running, hiking, volunteering, and cheering Georgetown to victory on the basketball court.
