An Evening with the Archbishop |
Oct 2008 |
 |
Thank to the 102 young adults who joined us for a special evening on 'Faithful Citizenship for Young Adults' with Archbishop George Niederauer. The Archbishop spoke on our responsibilities as Catholic young adults during this election period. While young adults at St. Vincent de Paul Church and throughout San Francisco are active members of both major parties, it is (and will be) our responsibility to work for positive change. This change can happen when we have a well-informed conscience.
George Hugh Niederauer (born June 14, 1936) is an American bishop of the Roman Catholic Church, serving as the Archbishop of San Francisco. By virtue of his office as ordinary of the San Francisco archdiocese, Niederauer is also metropolitan archbishop of the ecclesiastical province of San Francisco, which includes the suffragan dioceses of Honolulu, Las Vegas, Oakland, Reno, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Santa Rosa, and Stockton. Niederauer previously served as Bishop of Salt Lake City from 1994 to 2005.
Archbishop Niederauer is the chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Communication, and a member of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.
